We've
been around since March 2004, played and (almost) won
the band comp at Sydney Uni. We've been playing gigs
around inner Sydney for the last few months and LOVING
IT!!!
Blood and Scones are four guys and a girl from Sydney, all with some association to Sydney Uni. Since the finals then they have been playing weekly shows to busy crowds at Club77, Candy's Apartment, Spectrum and The Mandarin Club.
Blood and Scones are a theatrical dark rock band. Lead singer Tim Ikin is a tall dark imposing figure who delivers his spoken word poetry with ferocity. He's tempered by Claudia Pitts who brings a haunting melody while dressed as a fetish nurse or sassy corset wearing wicked witch. These two compliment each other, both visually and aurally, and set their melodies to the moody, bluesy rock riffs of Steve Hicks and the steady bass of Jason Gallate. Michael Stewart provides a natural feeling drum track - part jazz, part Animal : ).
Their music continues to evolve from what were originally stripped back scary tunes for Tim to speak over, into a bunch of uptempo rock revival numbers, a few epic moody songs and even a crowd-pleasing piss-take hip hop track.
